Advent 3 Sermon Preview: For Unto Us a Child Is Born – Everlasting Father
Isaiah 9:6 & Psalm 103:1–14
This Sunday, as we light the third candle of Advent, we continue our journey through Isaiah’s prophetic words: “For unto us a Child is born…” and reflect on the next name given to this promised one — Everlasting Father. At first glance, it might seem strange to call a child “Father,” yet this title speaks to the eternal care, compassion, and covenantal love that Christ brings.
Psalm 103 helps us see this more clearly: a Father who is “compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love…” One who remembers we are dust, who forgives and restores. Join us as we explore what it means to welcome Jesus not only as Savior, but as the Everlasting Father — one whose love never ends, and whose presence remains through every season.
